The Challenge
Multiple production apps live on the Play Store with booking flows and live location tracking. Challenge across all of them was battery-efficient background location tracking on Android — balancing GPS accuracy with device battery drain was the main optimization fight.
Our Approach
We built adaptive location tracking that polls tightly during an active trip and coarsely otherwise, using Android’s fused location provider and a foreground service so the OS doesn’t kill tracking mid-trip.
The Impact
Live tracking stays accurate during active bookings without draining the battery over the course of a normal day — the specific complaint that tends to show up as 1-star reviews weeks after launch.
